Group Discovery Workshop
(Ages 6-7)
Focus: BRAVE
Children are asked to think about the word BRAVE using the key questions:
Who is brave? What does being brave mean to you? When do you need to be brave?
Where have you seen bravery? Why do you need to be brave? How can someone be brave?
Do you think you are brave?
Children are invited to draw or write key words about BRAVE.
Act it out: we will then create shapes to show what BRAVE looks like.
We will then explore two different texts around our theme
BRAVE
Once exploring the texts, the children will be encouraged to think about their original ideas and whether the texts have challenged their thinking.
Creating space for being BRAVE - How can we be brave?
We can’t go to the shop and buy it, or find in somewhere in the house!
We will explore finding bravery from within and situations where we may need to be brave; in an apology to a friend or standing up for what you think is right.
Comments from the children at the end of the session:
“At the beginning of the session I thought only superheroes were brave and now I know I can be brave too.”
“I was brave when I had to have my stitches taken out at the doctors.”
“I liked the stories and the writing - I liked the session a lot.”
“I want to stay, does that mean I can learn more?”
